This book (Skellig) is the winner of the Hans Christian Anderson Award and is written by David

Almond, Skellig is not part of a larger series but David Almond has written ten other books.

When ten-year-old Michael moves into a new house it was all going well until his baby sister falls terribly ill and Doctor Death comes to the call. Michael feels hopeless and his parents are frantic. This all changes when Michael steps foot into the crumbling garage. Full of cobwebs and dead flies, but underneath all that Michael finds a man or monster that Michael has never seen before. With the help of Mina his new best friend they bring Skellig into the light. Is Skellig good or bad and does he have something to do with Michaels baby sisters illness?

Told in lyrical pose this book teaches more than just Michael about human nature, truth and the healing power of love. This story has a great Moral and will have you wanting more. The final twist seals the deal you can really see how this book won the Hans Christian Anderson Award.

My star rating: This star rating is rated for 9 and above and I would not recommend this book to anyone younger.

Appropriateness: This book does have a slight horror theme mixed into it but it is not to full-on. There is no coarse language or crude humour.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Plot: The storyline of this book could not be written any better it is just amazing.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Progress: The book moves at a decent pace not to slow not to fast.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Readability: This book is told in a lyrical pose so the way this is read is different you might have to stop and think about what was just written. But I really enjoy the way this book was written.
