The Mutt is an autobiography written by Rodney Mullen and co-writer Sean Mortimer. Rodney is the godfather of professional freestyle skating-1980’s The most admired street skater of the 1990’s and today an owner of a multimillion-dollar skating company. This book follows the extraordinary life of skater Rodney and spares no detail. It will leave you wanting more a good read and definitely worth it, but let's get a little bit more into what this book is about.
When Rodney was age six he was the family misfit wearing braces to straighten out his pigeon feet. His love for skating came later as it was never supported by his father, an abusive man skating was actually looked down upon in his family. But when he first stepped on a skateboard no one could take his board from him except his father who forced him to quit even though he was quickly gaining traction in the skating world, even getting a sponsor. Rodney finally took the courage to run away from his abusive home life and turn pro, but there was only one problem the popularity of freestyle had been taken away and given to vert and street-style, follow the young life of Rodney and how he turned his freestyle background into one of the best street skaters in the world.

Appropriateness: This book is definitely for older kids as it talks about suicide, drugs etc.

Storyline: The storyline is great and very entertaining it is written in a way that you will not get bored

Progress: this book moves at a decent pace but it can talk about technical terms which can slow down your reading experience

Readability: the language used in this book is very easy to understand you will not get lost in the text.
